About the job

As a Technical Lead at Thesio, you determine the direction of our projects together with a Digital Project Manager. In collaboration with our Head of Engineering, you decide on the best technical approach for the projects and ensure a high-quality and mature development process. You are the technical link between the idea and the final result!

Within your projects, you take on the ultimate technical responsibility. Together with your team, you translate your client’s challenges and ideas into a technical approach and corresponding design. You’re also able to effectively communicate and sell this — both to the client and to your colleagues. You then lead the development process and make sure everything runs smoothly. The end result: the delivery of a beautiful new product. That’s what makes us all happy!

This is how you help us grow

You’ll often work for two major clients at the same time. Within your client teams — usually consisting of 2 to 4 developers — you act as a technical coach, mentor, and positive meddler to ensure the development process runs smoothly. You make sure that the right team members with the right skills are involved and support your team in carrying out their work.

As a Technical Lead, you’re a walking source of knowledge and a sparring partner for both colleagues and clients. You handle project escalations quickly and effectively. Having a difficult conversation with a colleague who’s struggling a bit isn’t a problem for you — it’s an opportunity to help them (and yourself) improve. And don’t worry, you’ll still have plenty of time for hands-on programming work!

At Thesio, along with these major responsibilities, you’ll also enjoy a lot of freedom to do your work the way you think it should be done. We’d rather see you experiment and make mistakes than keep doing things the way they’ve always been done. What should you bring to the table?

• You have experience as a Technical Lead or Senior Developer within a commercial organization (either as a full-time employee or as a freelancer).

• You have extensive experience with front-end, back-end, and (dev)ops work, such as:

  • TypeScript and frameworks like Node.js, React, and/or Angular

  • NestJS, Apollo Server, and Docker

  • RDBMSs such as MySQL — we primarily use PostgreSQL

  • REST and GraphQL APIs

• You enjoy working with new technologies such as AI, automation, and smart development tools.

• You know how to coach and motivate your colleagues.

• You like working in a close-knit, open, and transparent team.

• You’re able to empathize with the challenges our clients face.

• You speak and write English fluently, bonus points if you're working on speaking Dutch.
